Lets here about some of the players that will be playing in the MERC. We want to know who were stuck with all year and hanging out with at tournaments. I feel like there are some true characters in the MERC, so we need to exploit them. Also, lets get some predictions or rankings for the "preseason" that is culminating in Akron October 3,4.

Preseason Rankings:
1) Baldwin Wallace College - missed 2nd at Nationals last year by anyone on the team winning ONE match!
2) University of Akron - With Kim Irons playing again and the small army of people that Danny recruited, they will get some points!
3) Ohio State University - solid roster across the board
4) University of Cincinatti - I have no idea who is on the team, but they have a 56 person roster sooooooooooo..........yeah points
I can't accurately comment on any of the other teams b/c I know absolutely nothing about them...so I might update this after this weekend
shout out ranking) Central Michigan University - they would be higher b/c of "the beast" Andrew Price and a solid core group but I don't think they'll bring a full roster to any tournament.
Character to watch out for: Andrew Danford aka "Danford" "Dan Ford" "Dan" from Baldwin Wallace College...he should be at the tournaments starting in November!
Here's another prediction and even though I'll try to prevent it....its so f()%_#*!_#($#_*%& tough to do. Zach Apperson will not lose 1 game all MERC season, singles or doubles. I'll go one further as a "part b" to this prediction. No one will get even 12 points on him in doubles or singles.
I met Buddy Budiculous from Slippery Rock University this weekend and I think he's one of the "characters to watch" in the MERC this year. The kid is hilarious and funny as hell on the court.
Buddy Brudowski, while a trip on the court, plays a mean cornhole game. My prediction is that me and Buddy will have an .800 winning percentage in cornhole for the year. so far we are 10-1, and the competition is far behind us.
Also, U of Akron powerhoused the tournament this weeekend. I predict they will win the MERC this year due to number of players and the play of our girls.
I might have to agree with Danny about the Akron zips being the favorite to win the MERC regular season. We (baldwin wallace) only brought 4 girls and 7 guys, while Akron had 8 guys and 8 girls, with many of their players being well above the average MERC player's skill level. BW will have a shot at getting more points once the other half of our girls team (currently varsity athletes and 1 girl studying abroad) and the LEGENDARY ANDREW DANFORD come back, but it might be too late.
I would just like to say that Central Michigan University will be a force to be reckon with since we only had 4 guys and still took 5th place. We are hopefully going to be bringing more and competing more and more.
In terms of boasting I think the best one was mine against Zac Apperson...39.5 feet boast roll out he didn't have a chance...but I still lost 15-1 and 15-0.
What a great tournament can't wait to make it to the next one that we can make it too.

the boast is my trademark shot now, mike. until someone else can show the audacity and lunacy to continuously attempt the shot, no one can claim it. it is the basis of my practice regiment, and my percentage of effective Boasts wield their merit.
On a side note, Mike, keep coming down to tournaments. i look forward to seeing "The Force Up North" coming to more tourneys

We might put him in division 3 to take on the entire Cincinatti 6-8 who mauled everyone at the Slippery Rock Tournament!!!!! Watch Out!!

You should watch out because instead of 3 guys in Division 3 we will have 6 probably due to fielding 2 teams at our tournament. So Damford will have to deal with 6 guys from Cincy, have fun with that. So far we have 14 guys that want to play in the tournament so we will have a stronger team than before. I mean I may have to play Division 3 if I see Damford in there, and of course because everyone above me is better than me.
But in all seriousness you guys should be careful because we are bringing the pain at the next tournament. Sam Stoughton and I may face each other in the final of Division 3 after each beating someone from our own team in the semifinals.
Wow...Cincy wins one men's event and the chatter begins!!!!!!! Well...it should be fun and to throw another wrench into the mix, I'm probably playing lefty because my right shoulder is so messed up. I might be a spoiler in Div 2 or 3 HAH!
If you end up playing lefty I will be keeping a close eye to make sure you don't switch to righty under any circumstance and will tell my players to exploit your crappy back hand as a lefty.
Why can't I switch? I won't switch mid rally, but I can do what I want between points! Maybe my backhand ain't so bad

we are looking for some funny awards to give out at regionals in two weeks. if anyone has any suggestions, please respond back. we have some in mind but feedback would be good. justin, we need to convene on this issue very soon
